Yet another reason to be grateful for the blog…

…you all have such fantastic ideas! I ripped out the sock (and two baby sweaters and a baby hat), stuffed the yarn in the closet, and took a total knitting break for a couple of days. Read a few books I’d been meaning to get to, cleaned the house, and generally tried not to think about my knitting.
Then the February shipment of the Seasons Yarn Club showed up at my door.
She named the colorway “Bronzed Sienna”, and it is absolutely the essence of autumn in New England, to me. My favorite time of the year in my favorite place in the world. I put it on my desk and smiled every time I walked by.
I cast on for the second Pomatomus. Even if I’ve only knit a few rows, it’s started, damnit, and that makes things seem much more cheery.
The end is in sight, even if it’ll be slow going to get there. And then I let the whole question of what excites me (knitting-wise) roll around in my head during my little break. And eventually came up with the same answer as some of you: I need sweaters. I love socks, I love lace, I love all knitting–but I need sweaters. I’d written them off for the immediate future, because knitting one for myself is currently impractical. But eventually my brain kicked in and I realized I could knit a sweater for someone else, too. Enter Torgeir, from Elsebeth Lavold’s Viking Knits I booklet.
I should have juuuuuuust enough of the dark blue I used for Gram’s Fir Cone Cardigan to make the two-year size for Jacob. And just like that, I’m back. Nice to see you again!

Its so exciting when the “love” comes back isn’t it? And how amazing it can happen just by looking at beautiful yarn and making a little progress! Congratulations!
I LOVE that orange yarn! I wouldn’t even know what to knit with it I love the color sooooo much. And I agree fall in New England is the best!

Yay! I can totally feel the positivity glowing through this entry. I’ve gotten my kicks making two fast projects, but I can feel myself getting ready for something bigger.
(I made Foliage and a washcloth, but haven’t blogged them yet. I don’t even know if I’ll blog the washcloth, I mean, it had a smiley face, but it’s still a washcloth.)

I am far more captivated by sweaters than any other kind of project. I need some hats, and I’d like to start socks, but when I have a WIP sweater (and there are three right now) it always seems more captivating. I do plan to cast on for socks today, just to have a portable project, but I really want to knit away on my sweater.
The yarn looks gorgeous. I love the socks too, and I am sure the sweater will look adorable.
It’s good to see you kicked your knitting funk right out the door. I agree, your lovely new yarn does capture the essence of Fall exactly. I can hardly wait to see what it’s going to be.

Yay! I’ve had to break through my knitting blahs, too. I ‘m a sweater knitter, too, but since I have two sweaters swatched and one on the needles and nothing moving forward, I started a baby sweater. I just needed something that would go along easily. It is and I’m loving it! So happy end of the knitting blahs to us both.

The colors of the yarn in this post are incredibly reminiscent of food – the orange screams pumpkin, the socks cry cranberry and the sweater shouts blueberry. It’s making me really hungry!
And, as always, the knitting looks absolutely lovely, and I continue to be jealous of what must be an amazing yarn stash!
